Attachments and Google Drive

If you connect a Google Drive folder, WorkOS copies your work attachments there (PDFs, spreadsheets, images...), organized into folders by client and project.

Who owns the folder

The folder belongs to the Google account you choose when you connect it, usually a company account. WorkOS doesn't have its own Drive where it keeps your files.

Who can see the files

WorkOS never shares files or creates public links. It has no feature that changes a file's permissions in Drive.

Files inherit the permissions of the folder they're stored in. If that folder is shared with your team, your team will see the files. If it's private, only people with access will see it. Check who you share the root folder with before connecting it.

What WorkOS does in that folder

To keep the structure up to date, WorkOS can:

• Create, rename and move folders.
• Upload files.
• Delete files, when you remove an attachment in WorkOS.

Keep in mind that this deletion is permanent: it doesn't go through the Drive trash. If your company needs to keep a file, also save it outside the synced folder.

What permissions it asks Google for

To be able to browse the folders that already existed in your Drive, WorkOS asks Google for full access to Drive. It only uses it to manage the folder you choose and everything inside it. You can withdraw this access whenever you want from Settings → Integrations or from your Google account's security settings.
