How to choose the Google Drive folder for your attachments

If you connect Google Drive, WorkOS saves a copy of your attachments in a Drive folder of your company, as well as in Notion. Until you choose a folder, attachments are saved in Notion only.

What gets saved and how

WorkOS copies the attachments of Projects, Notes, Wiki, Tasks, Companies and Contacts, and organizes them in automatic subfolders inside the folder you choose. The copy stays in sync: uploading an attachment from the app also uploads it to Drive, and removing it from the app also deletes it from Drive.

If you change a note's Main topic (or an article's Type or Topic in the Wiki), its Drive folder moves to the new place on its own.

Who can set it up

Only the account Owner; everyone else sees a notice saying so. You also need a Google account connected (see the article "How to connect your email and your calendar").

How to choose the folder

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations. In the Google connection block, scroll down to Google Drive.
  2. If there's no folder yet, click Root folder.
  3. Choose the Google account you want to use.
  4. Choose My Drive or a shared drive and browse to the folder you want.
  5. Click Use this folder.

If you see "Couldn't save: there's no write permission on that folder (or it no longer exists)", choose another folder where that account can write.

Changing it later

Once a folder is set, you'll see Current root folder, with its path and the Google account. Click Change folder to pick another one.

Tip: choose a folder meant only for WorkOS, so its automatic subfolders don't get mixed with other files.
