Closing the day and validating your hours
If your account uses time tracking, at the end of the day you can close the day: review the hours you have logged today and give your approval. It is a step for every user, whatever their role.
How to do it
- On Home, press the Close the day button (next to Dashboard).
- A window opens with the same information as My hours today: your time entries for today by start time, with the task, project and company, the “Unlogged” gaps between one entry and the next, and the total.
- If something is missing, add it before validating: Add task creates a new task and Add time logs time on a task (you choose the task, the start time and the end time). You can also open any row with the gear icon to fix it.
- When everything is right, press Validate day. It is your confirmation that today's hours are correct.
If you have a timer running
You cannot validate with a timer open. The button becomes Stop and validate: it stops your timer and then validates.
If you change your hours after validating
The validation refers to the hours as they were when you validated. If you later add, edit or delete time for that same day, the window tells you that you changed your hours and asks you to validate again.
What you see and who sees it
The validation is yours: each person validates only their own hours, and nobody else sees that you validated. It is your own confirmation and does not replace the legal working-time record (your time entries are still visible, as always, to those who supervise you in the team workload panel). To be able to validate, your user must be linked to a Team member in time tracking; if it is not, the window tells you so.
Tip: the Close the day button is only shown while today is not validated (or if you validated and then changed your hours). Once validated it disappears from Home; if you do not see it and have not validated, your account does not use time tracking or your user is not linked to a Team member.
