How to connect your personal Slack to Inbox

If you connect your Slack account, you can work with Slack from WorkOS: send new messages as yourself and follow specific channels from your Inbox.

What it lets you do

Send new messages with your real identity, using the New Slack (personal) button in Inbox. That button only appears once your Slack is connected.
Search for people in your Slack workspace directory.
Read and reply in the channels you decide to connect.

How to connect it

Go to Settings → Integrations and find the Messaging block.
On the Slack card, click Connect.
Authorize access in the new window; when you're done, the connection completes on its own.

It's a personal connection: each person connects their own Slack. The block only appears if your account has Inbox turned on.

Connecting channels

Once your Slack is connected, the Connected channels section appears:

Type the channel name in the search box.
Click Connect on the channels you want to follow. Disconnect stops following them.

Only the channels you choose get connected, never all of them. Their messages reach your inbox every few minutes (not in real time), alongside the rest of your messaging.

Common problems

If Slack shows a notice saying you're not authorized when you connect, it's because your Slack workspace restricts which apps can be installed. Ask whoever manages apps for that workspace to approve WorkOS Inbox (or to install it themselves). It's a Slack restriction, not a WorkOS one.
