How to connect WhatsApp Business and Inbox messaging

Inbox messaging brings your WhatsApp and Instagram conversations into your inbox, next to your email. Each channel is connected from a different place.

WhatsApp Business

It's a personal connection: each person connects their own WhatsApp Business.

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations and find the Messaging block.
  2. On the WhatsApp Business card, click Connect.
  3. Authorize access in the new window that opens.
  4. When you're done, the card changes to Connected. If it doesn't change on its own, click I've authorized — check.

If your account uses the Team system, the card also tells you which Team member your connection is linked to.

The Messaging block only appears if your account has Inbox turned on. If you can't see it, ask whoever administers your account.

Instagram

It doesn't have its own card in Messaging: it's connected in the Social networks block (see the article "How to connect your social networks to WorkOS"). If you already had it connected to publish, its direct messages show up in Inbox automatically.

Common problems

  • I can't reply to a WhatsApp message. WhatsApp Business only lets you reply within 24 hours of the contact's last message. After that, the reply box is disabled and the reason is explained: you have to wait for that person to write again.
  • A message wasn't delivered. A red notice appears inside the conversation with the reason for the failure.
  • I want to stop receiving WhatsApp. Click Disconnect on its card and confirm. You'll find more details in the article "What to do when an account gets disconnected".
