How to create a project or a subproject

You can create a project or service without leaving WorkOS, from three different places.

From Projects and services

Find the status where you want to create the project (a column in Kanban or a group in List).
Click the + button of that status.
Fill in the form. The Name is required. If your account has it set up, you can also choose the Type, which project it Depends on and the Assignee — all three are optional.
Click Create project or service.

At the top of the form you'll see a reminder of which status the project will be created in. The project appears instantly in its group.

Creating a subproject

A subproject is a project that depends on another one. There are two ways to create one:

In the form above, choosing the project in the Depends on field (it only appears if your account has that relation set up).
Opening the parent project's detail page, going to the Subprojects tab and clicking New subproject. In that case it is already linked to its parent, so you don't have to pick it.

In that tab you see the project's subprojects, grouped by status.

Depends on only offers projects that don't depend on any other, so subprojects are organized in a single level.

From a company or a contact

On the detail page of a company or a CRM contact there is a + New project or service button. The project is created and linked to that company or contact. It only appears if your account has that option available.

After creating it

Open the project to complete its details: assignee, participants, date, linked company and everything else. If you see a tab or a field that isn't shown in your account, it's because the person who administers it hasn't turned it on.

Tip: if you don't see the Type, Depends on or Assignee fields when creating a project, it's not a bug: they only show up when they are set up in your account.
