How to choose each section's database and map its properties

With Notion already connected, you need to tell WorkOS two things: which database each section uses, and which property of that database matches each piece of data (this is called mapping).

Choose the databases

Go to Settings → Notion databases (only the Technical contact sees it).
On each card, type in the search box (Search database…) and pick the database. If the name matches what's expected, WorkOS suggests it by itself: "Automatically detected — review it and save."
Click Save databases. WorkOS reads the structure of each chosen database, confirms it has been saved and reloads the page.

Map the properties

Under some cards there's a collapsible configuration block, for example Agenda configuration, Documentation configuration or Team properties.

Open it: WorkOS reads the properties of your database.
For each piece of data, pick the Notion property that matches it from the list. Each list only shows properties of the right type (text, date, status, relation...).
Click Save configuration.

If a list has no options, you'll see "There's no property of type "..." in this database. Create it in Notion." Create it in Notion and continue with the article "I changed something in Notion and WorkOS doesn't show it: what to do".

Optional properties

Those marked (optional) can stay as — unassigned —: the related feature isn't turned on, but nothing breaks. The rest are required. For example, for the Documents section to appear you need the Status, Date and Type properties; the financial values and attachments are optional.

In general, a section doesn't appear in the menu until its database and required properties are configured.

What's still missing

Above the cards, the Pending configuration box lists the databases not chosen yet and the required properties not mapped. Click one and the screen takes you straight to it. When everything is ready, you'll see Everything required is configured.

The card titles on this screen appear in Spanish whatever language you use.
