What's in a task's detail view

When you click a task (in any view, on Home or in a project's detail view), its detail view opens in a side panel. From there you can edit almost all of it without leaving where you are.

The fields

  • Title — the only field saved with the Save button.
  • Status and Date — saved as soon as you change them (the article on statuses and dates explains this).
  • Type and End date — only appear if your account has them configured.
  • Project or service — choose which one the task belongs to; the Go to project or service button takes you to it. It only appears if your account links tasks and projects.
  • Assignee — who it's assigned to.
  • Tracking — the timer, when it can be used.

The tabs

Below the fields there are icon tabs; their name shows when you hover over them. Some only appear if your account has them configured.

  • Content — the task's information. Click Edit (or Add content, if it's empty) to open an editor with a formatting toolbar: headings, bold, italic, lists and links. Type @ to link a note, a document, a project, a contact or another page. Save with Save content.
  • Times — the task's time entries.
  • Participants — the people who collaborate on it without being its assignee.
  • Comments — write a comment and click Send. Each one is signed with your name.
  • Linked message — if the task is linked to an Inbox message (for example, because it came from an email), you open it here with View message.
  • Attachments — drag a file or click to upload it (images, PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Markdown and ZIP). You can rename and remove attachments.

The buttons at the bottom

  • Mark as completed — doesn't appear if the task is already completed.
  • Discard task — only if your account has the "Discarded" status configured.
  • Delete task — removes it, after confirmation.

Common problems

  • I can't edit a task. If you're a Supervisor and the task belongs to someone in your team, you see it read-only, with a notice at the top, unless you take part in it.
  • A tab is missing. It's not a bug: that feature isn't turned on for your account.
