Notifications: the bell, alerts and Do not disturb

WorkOS lets you know about the things that concern you with notifications. They appear on the bell in the header, between Inbox and Settings (on mobile, top right, next to the magnifying glass).

Which alerts you get

Today there is one type of notification, and more will be added:

  • Task completed. If you are a Supervisor (or the role that plays that part in your account) and you created a task for someone on your team, you get an alert when that person completes it. You do not get one if you complete your own task yourself, or if you did not create the task from WorkOS.

The alert is generated when the task is completed from WorkOS, Kairos or an MCP connector. If someone completes it directly in Notion, there is no alert.

How they look

  • A red circle on the bell with the number of unread notifications.
  • A discreet card at the bottom right when a new one arrives while you work. It makes no sound, does not take your focus and closes on its own after a few seconds. Click the card to open the task. It does not appear while you are typing in a field (then only the red circle changes) or when the page loads.
  • Panel: click the bell to see the list, with unread ones highlighted. Clicking a notification marks it as read and opens the task. Mark all as read clears them at once.

Notifications are shown in the language you have chosen in the app.

Turn each type on or off

In the bell panel, click the gear. Under Notification types there is a switch for each type. A type that is off stops generating alerts for you; those that happen while it is off are not recovered when you turn it back on.

Do not disturb

Also under the gear, Do not disturb silences the red circle and the cards for a while. Notifications keep piling up and you can see them by opening the bell. Choose:

  • 1 hour,
  • Until tomorrow (8:00 AM), until 8:00 AM the next morning in your time zone, or
  • Until I turn it off.

When the time is up, the mode switches off by itself and the counter returns. You can turn it off earlier at any time with the Turn off button.

How long they are kept

Read notifications are deleted after 30 days, and all of them, read or not, after 90 days.
