Company objectives

Company objectives are a single board, shared by the whole team, with what the company wants to achieve. They act as a criterion: when Kairos prepares your daily summary, it gives more weight to work that contributes to an objective in progress.

You find them in Settings › Company objectives. Everyone on the team can view them; only account administrators (Owner and Technical administration permissions) can create and edit them.

Types and terms

  • Quantitative: it has a number. You define a starting value, a target and a unit (customers, euros, hours…); you update the current value by hand and WorkOS calculates the progress as a percentage.
  • Qualitative: no figure. You describe it in words (what having achieved it means); the description is what matters.
  • Term: medium term (a few months) or long term (a year or more). Optionally, a deadline: you will see how many days are left.
  • Status: in progress or closed. An objective is closed as completed, postponed or abandoned; closed ones are kept apart, out of the way.
  • Priority: high, medium or low.

At most 3 objectives in progress per term

To keep focus, there can only be 3 objectives in progress for the medium term and 3 for the long term. Each term shows how many it has («2 of 3 in progress»). If a term is full you cannot create another one, move one into it or reopen a closed one: you must close one first.

Closing an objective frees its slot. Use Close objective and choose how it ends:

  • Completed: what was sought has been achieved.
  • Postponed: left for later; you can reopen it when there is room.
  • Abandoned: it will no longer be pursued.

You must also write a detailed explanation (at least 100 characters): what happened, what was learned and, if postponed, when or under what conditions it will be resumed. The explanation and the closing date are saved in Notion next to the objective and shown in the closed list.

Objectives you already had in progress before this limit existed are left alone even if there are more than 3; the limit only applies when creating, reopening or changing term.

Linking them to projects and services

Each objective can be tied to one or more projects and services. That way Kairos knows which tasks contribute to which objective: a task in a linked project counts as work towards it. A private project you cannot see does not show up in anyone's links except its members'.

Pressing + Add project opens the list of projects; the ones already linked to the objective carry the Already linked label. The deadline is chosen with the same date picker as the rest of WorkOS, and on mobile or small screens the form is a single column.

Updating progress

On a quantitative objective, use Update value to enter the current figure; the date of the last update is recorded. You can also ask Kairos or edit it directly in Notion.

Preparing the Notion base

Objectives live in a Notion base. Whoever has technical administration permissions creates it with the base installer («Objectives» package) or by hand, and picks it in Databases, like the rest. If that base is not picked, the objectives card does not appear.

What Kairos sees

Kairos and your connected AI (Claude, ChatGPT) can read the objectives in progress, but not create or change them: that is done in Settings. In the daily summary, objectives are sent to OpenAI together with your tasks and emails (name, short description, dates and figures), under your permissions.
