What to do when an account gets disconnected
Sometimes the connection to an external account stops working: for example, after you change that account's password, revoke permissions, or go a long time without using it. WorkOS lets you know so you don't stop publishing or receiving messages without noticing.
How you find out
- A prominent notice at the top of the app, with a button that takes you straight to Integrations. It can refer to your social networks, one of your email accounts or the Substack connection.
- An email notice to the affected person.
The notice about an email account is only shown to the person the account belongs to.
How to reconnect
- Click the button in the notice, or go to Settings → Integrations.
- Find the affected account.
- Click its connect button again (Connect; on social networks that already show as connected it's called Reconnect) and sign in with that same account.
You don't need to disconnect it first, and you don't lose any data. For Substack, instead of signing in you'll need to paste your updated session cookie again (it expires roughly every 90 days).
The Notion connection is reconnected with Reconnect Notion. On some accounts it's managed by a platform administrator; if you don't see the button, contact them.
Disconnecting on purpose
- Social networks: each card has its own Disconnect button. It's individual and doesn't affect your teammates. If you disconnect Instagram, you also stop receiving its direct messages in Inbox until you reconnect it.
- WhatsApp and Slack: click Disconnect on their card in the Messaging block.
- Google accounts: click Remove on the account card and confirm. It will stop being read and can no longer be used to send emails.
If you only want to stop bringing an account's emails into Inbox but keep using it for Calendar and Drive, don't remove it: untick Receive emails from this account.
Tip: to fix an expired connection you don't have to disconnect first. Just connect the same account again.
